Dr. Mallery Callahan was born July 31, 1952 to Alfred Callahan and the late Verna Callahan. His parents raised him to faithfully serve God. He has been married to the charming and lovely Geraldine Collins Callahan for 39 years in 2011. To this blessed union, God added 5 wonderful children. Rochelle, Shawn and Dawn, Mallery II and Matthew. Rounding out this joy are grandchildren; Justin and Le'Shai, by way of Dawn and Kelcie by way of Rochelle.

For more than 30 years Pastor Mallery Callahan has dedicated his life to Kingdom building. He has been abundantly blessed with 3 churches: Hopewell Baptist Church, Sweet Rest Baptist Church and Greater Starlight Baptist Church. At Greater Starlight Baptist Church much has been accomplished: completion of 2 building projects, secured several grants to purchase computers and set up a computer lab, 1st in this community to establish an After-School Tutorial Program which includes LEAP, iLEAP, ACT, GED and adult tutoring. He established Kiddie Kollege, an accredited daycare center in Covington, operates an ongoing quality summer camp for children ages 5-12, and with the completion of a 1.2 million dollar Education Building which will house senior citizens ministries, the Light Cafe (coffee shop/bookstore/gift shop), class rooms and eventually Greater Starlight Academy. Dr. Callahan was elected and is serving as the Moderator of the Third District Bogue Chitto General Missionary Baptist Association. He is the 1st Vice President of the Louisiana Home and Foreign Mission Baptist State Convention, a member of the National Baptist Missionary Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress, and a member of the National Baptist Convention of America. Dr. Callahan teaches for National Conventions, the Third District Bogue Chitto General Missionary Baptist Association and a former instructor of the Christian Bible College of Louisiana. He continues to facilitate various workshops all of the country for churches and faith-based groups.

Our very own beloved Pastor Callahan celebrated his 33rd year here at the Greater Starlight Missionary Baptist Church on March 13, 2011. Pastor Dale Sanders brought us to new heights in our spirit filled services. Pastor and Sister Callahan were touched by the heart-felt words of encouragement to the love that was shown by all. God bless us and we pray that we will all be here to celebrate many more anniversaries!
